JP HQ: Behind the Scenes with Merlin’s Walk

/ /

With the Rio Olympics of 2016 looming, ever-growing, family run production company Jermin Productions are racing ahead with their Pantomime plans for their stay at The Lyric Theatre, Carmarthen this Christmas, the first stop of the 4 Venue Pantomime Tour. This year our company are going for GOLD as they bring to life the ultimate British Pantomime of all time: Dick Whittington.

Returning for their third consecutive year at the magnificent Lyric Theatre, Mark and Nia Jermin will continue winning over the hearts of many Carmarthenshire locals including the hearts of those shoppers and staff at Merlin’s Walk who will once again be back on board for an adventurous Christmas full of mischief, mayhem and most of all magic!

In previous year’s the unwavering support of the Merlin’s Walk team has been vital to the success of this returning Pantomime and their partnership is one that is always cherished by Jermin Productions. This year Merlin’s Walk and JP are teaming up to transform Carmarthen town and aim to pave the streets with GOLD in true Dick Whittington style.

In previous years we have taken over the town centre with flyers, bombarded shop windows with posters, raided local businesses for various photoshoots and also sung a song or two along the way. And this year you will be seeing a lot more of our Dick Whittington Cast as we prepare to embark on the task of taking over Carmarthen. We are set to arrive at a number of Merlin’s Walk events from now right up until Christmas 2016 which means that you will have the opportunity to meet the cast on a one to one basis and also bag a cheeky selfie! Our cast will be popping up everywhere when you least expect them to so keep your eyes peeled for Dick and his cat along with a whole host of your Pantomime favourites.

Once again we will be working with the local businesses of Carmarthen, including the shops and stores within Merlin’s Walk, who have always been a huge support to our growing success as residents at The Lyric. We are planning a number of incentives and promotional opportunities as a small token of thanks to those who have stuck by the Pantomime ever since we first arrived in 2014.

A strong focus for us this year is also making our Pantomime as accessible as possible to ALL. In order to do this we have increased the number of signed performances to welcome deaf and hearing impaired audiences to this festive production. Along with this we have also introduced Relaxed Performances and are the first company to bring this new style of performance to South Wales. Audiences who may prefer this type of performance may include people with Autism Spectrum Condition, sensory and communication disorders or a learning disability. There is a relaxed attitude to involuntary noises and movement from audience members within the auditorium. For our Relaxed Performance there will be small changes to elements of the production to reduce the intensity of the Pantomime production. Lighting and Sound levels are adjusted to soften their impact for a more enjoyable and relaxed environment for all who attend.

Jermin Productions are also teaming up with Merlin’s Walk’s chosen charity Ty Hafan to spread the good will of Christmas to all who rely on the incredible work of this local charity. Together, we will be offering opportunities to the supporters and workers of this fantastic charity branch through a number of events including the ‘Rainbow Run’ at Pendine Sands this September. Our Dick Whittington Cast will be at the event to cheer on and support those brave runners and also help splash a little colour with their bright and flamboyant costumes. The charity will also be attending the pantomime and JP will be providing audiences with the opportunity to dig deep and have the opportunity to make a small donation if they wish.

So what can you expect from Merlin’s Walk and Jermin Productions this year?

Through the partnership, Merlin’s Walk will be giving away a number of FREE pantomime tickets through a number of Christmas themed competitions which are guaranteed to get you in the Christmas Spirit.

The Dick Whittington Cast will be attending a super spooky event this October as we celebrate Halloween at Merlin’s Walk.

We have SO much in store for you this year and here is where you will find everything you need to know about this year’s Pantomime! Alternatively you can keep up to date with daily updates on our social media profiles where we will be sharing videos, images and also posting any events that our Cast will be attending this year!
