The theatres have gone dark, the set is packed away, the reviews have been posted, and Marc Skone’s bras and bloomers are at the dry cleaners!! That is curtain down on our 2016 / 2017 Pantomime and after our fourth and largest season we have ever produced, I can confidently say that Dick Whittington was the best of our productions to date.
Firstly a huge Thank you to everyone who worked on our production, from the band to the cast to the crew to children and chaperones, to our sponsors, our marketing colleagues, our charities and secondly to the fantastic audiences who watched!
What a Christmas season, and what a response to all things Dick! Mark and I were really pleased with the lovely comments from our audiences especially as we took the production to 2 new venues who are completely unfamiliar with the “Jermin” brand. I was lucky enough to be able to have watched the production with pride at every venue (despite still being on the tour of Chitty- I just covered a lot of miles down the M6 this season.) It was a joy to see how hard the crew had worked in fitting the set and props into each Venue and leaving its own Panto stamp at that Venue. It is a joy watching your words and ideas come to life on stage, as there were many late nights on tour scribbling down jokes and ideas at 2am in the morning following a matinee and evening performance on tour. Seeing our work on stage is brilliant and makes all those 4am coffee and laptop sessions worth it!
Also a special mention to the excellent Dick Company for helping us to host our end of Season Party last week, including the hilarious awards brilliantly executed by Dame Cookie and JJ: Marc Skone and Adam Byard! It was a great evening had by all and a testament to the Cast Crew and Band of how much they’ve all enjoyed this year’s Tour.
And whats next? Well the plans for the 2017 / 2018 season are already in place, and we are following the Pantomime trend all around the UK in making every year an even better, bigger more flamboyant production! No other country in the world does Panto like us Brits, it is one thing we do have over Trump (the biggest Panto villain of all!) But Pantomime continues to rise, and its brilliant that Panto made last week’s news : Read this article from The Stage newspaper, which highlights the success of the country’s show stopping CINDERELLA at London’s Palladium, a spectacle of British Panto at its best! It is a delight that audiences are welcoming Pantomime into their festive periods and making it an annual tradition to visit a production in the UK. I think a leading brand like QDOS is so inspiring for other companies around the UK and we really aspire to deliver a top notch production like others around the country to offer all audiences the option to attend Pantomime.
And its not just Pantomime that we have going on this year… want to know more? Well you’ll have to wait and see.. got a feeling 2017 is going to be pretty brilliant all round! Looking forward to revealing more next month! Have a great week everyone
