The Curtain falls on our Bluestone tech week…

As the final curtain falls on tech week, the cast and crew of bluestone’s Beauty and the Beast are looking forward to a well deserved 3 days off. But before I get into what we’re doing on those days off let me recap on yesterday!
So let’s start of with a quick introduction, my name is Beth and I am treading the Bluestone boards as as an ensemble member and swing extraordinaire! Having performed in my first ever Pantomime last year as a dancer I am absolutely thrilled to be stepping out as an all round performer in this year’s Bluestone Panto which in my opinion is the most magical yet! We have all loved writing our little blogs and diary entries to keep you all updated and now it is my go!

After a long week of tech rehearsals, we arrived at The Village Hall this morning raring to go and well rested. With 3 days off fast approaching, spirits were high (I think the birthday cake for Guto’s Birthday helped although it didn’t last very long!) and so we prepared ourselves for the first full tech and costume run of the week!
“And here we go.. from the top of the show.”
Hitting a few snags and some new sound effects taking us by suprise, lights, sound and costume were tickety boom! Notes from director Mark Jermin are getting less and less each time we run, horray for us! (For anyone who has worked with Mark before you’ll know all about the noting sessions!!)

With rehearsals complete it was time to surprise the staff and the visitors of Bluestone Resort with a small hint of this year’s Panto and nothing says Panto better than a glammed up dame! So our wonderful Dame Spout and I went for a BREW-TEA-ful walk around the resort and it’s safe to say that we turned a few heads! Our stroll took us to the coffee shop, the local mini-mart and also stopped off at the spa, full steam ahead!! With our glitz, glamour and sparkle packed away for the weekend the cast and crew all have their work cut out for them, remembering cue lines, dance routines, props and costume changes, we’ll be ecstatic in a few days time as we invite our pantomime guests to join us for our first week of our tale as old as time.

Waving goodbye to the landscape of green,

What a busy and tiring week it’s been,

Three days off from talking in rhyme,

Before we all tell the Tale as old as Time!
